Plot Summary: After Arthur discovers Merlin has magic, Arthur banishes Merlin from Camelot. Furious and heartbroken, Arthur unwittingly confides in a servant and expresses a wish that Merlin had never come to Camelot ... with disastrous results.

Genre: Angst, Action (and technically AU since Arthur goes to another dimension and all ... but it isn't incompatible with the canon storyline)

A/N: This was a bitch of a chapter to write. I actually wrote chapters 3 and 4 first to give myself some direction on how to piece this world together. (And of course this chapter then took a different direction than I had first intended, so now I have to go through and rewrite those ... but hopefully updates will be fairly quick.) I had no idea how I was going to convey the dilapidated state of Camelot without seeming really lame. I'm not sure I succeeded at not seeming really lame. The man rides a Griffin for pity's sake. But it is what it is! And it is long. Thanks for reading in advance. :)
Also! My magic fandoms are all beginning to bleed together. Please ignore the blatant Voldemort-like allusions and the Inferi-like creatures. I only realized the parallels in hindsight. :( I'm really displeased with this chapter in general but it had to be written.
